We will be electing delegates to the newly convened Regional Executive Committee at Regional Conference on the 27th and 28th November 2021. The membership of the REC can be found detailed below.

CLPs and Affiliates were asked to nominate respectively for these positions over the last few months. Those nominations are now closed.

CLPs and Affiliates were also asked to nominate for the Conference Arrangements Committee. There are 5 spaces on the CAC, 4 of which are elected by all delegates to conference, 1 of which is elected for CLPs only.

The voting membership of the Regional Executive Committee is made as follows:

Constituency Labour Parties (CLPs) are entitled to 16 places on the REC. These are split by area as below (gender balance requirements rotate each term).

Cheshire 3 places (At least 2 must be women)
Cumbria 1 place (open)
Greater Manchester 5 places (At least 2 must be women)
Lancashire 3 places (At least 2 must be women)
Merseyside 4 places (At least 2 must be women)

Trade Unions are entitled to 16 spaces on the REC, at least 8 of which must be women.

A Co-operative Party representative nominated by the Co-operative Party. This position is open this year and will rotate between open and AWS for each term.

One representative from the Socialist Societies affiliated to the Regional Labour Party, elected by Socialist Society delegates to Regional Conference. This position is open.

A women’s representative elected by the regional women’s committee, or elected by delegates to regional conference if there is no active regional women’s committee. (The North West does not currently have an active women’s committee, so this position will be elected at conference).

A regional BAME representative elected by the regional BAME committee, or elected by delegates to regional conference if there is no active regional BAME committee. (The North West does have an active BAME committee, so they will elect this delegate to the REC).

A disability representative elected by the regional disability committee, or elected by delegates to regional conference if there is no active regional disability committee. (The North West does not currently have an active disability committee, so this position will be elected at conference).

An LGBT representative elected by the regional LGBT committee, or elected by delegates to regional conference if there is no active regional LGBT committee. (The North West does not currently have an active LGBT committee, so this position will be elected at conference).

A Young Labour representative elected at an all members meeting of the Regional Young
Labour Group who must be a woman at least every other term.

2 representatives of local and regional government elected by members of the ALC at least one of whom must be a woman.

1 representative from MPs/MEPs elected by the combined regional group of the PLP who must be a woman at least every other term.
