Eddie Izzard: Proud to be Labour and supporting our North West European Election campaign
Eddie Izzard joined Labour MEPs and candidates at the Bridgewater Hall on Friday February 27 and gave his support to the North West European election campaign.
Speaking about the elections on June 4 he said:
"I think North West people should vote for Labour because they’ve put a lot more effort into the North West than the Tories ever did before.
"We need people's votes particularly now, because otherwise the BNP will get in. The BNP is just not about Britain, it’s not what we do. We’re a multi-cultural society, a shining example to the world. People should get out and vote Labour in the June 4 elections. " Anyone walking round Manchester or Salford Quays will see the influence of European investment such as Urbis, the Lowry Centre, the Imperial War Museum North and the Bridgewater Hall.
The Bridgewater project is a great example of Labour MEPS, MPs and Councillors working together to build a fairer future for all.
First opened in 1996, the venue hosts more than 250 performances each year including some of the great European orchestras like the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Prague Symphony Orchestra.
The £42m project – built in partnership by Manchester City Council and the Manchester Development Corporation - benefited from £14.5m capital support from the European Regional Development Fund.
Eddie was the first comedian to appear at the Bridgewater during its first season in 1996.
